Restoring Lifelines
Through Arterio-Venous (AV) Fistula Access
Thousands in Honduras face repeated infections and hospitalizations from temporary dialysis ports.

HHPF provides surgical AV fistulas—safe, permanent solutions after patient evaluation. Recovery is swift, and patients can receive dialysis safely.
HHPF also trains U.S. residents and fellows, as well as Honduran surgeons, in AV fistula procedures—ensuring the practice becomes a sustainable, locally driven solution for dialysis care.

Our Solution
In 2024, Dr. Nav Gupta, Allan Greenburg, and their surgical team performed the region’s first AV fistula surgery in Olanchito, Honduras. That milestone sparked an idea: to build a formal program that both serves patients in need and trains surgeons from the U.S. and Honduras in life-saving vascular techniques. In 2025, the initiative expanded, welcoming multiple vascular surgeons and residents into a collaborative training environment.
