Vascular & Dialysis Access Program
Training Surgeons Transforming Lives
The Challenge in Dialysis Access
Most dialysis patients in Honduras rely on temporary catheters—a short-term solution with high infection risk, hospitalizations, and frequent replacements. Renal transplantation is not widely available.
Without intervention, patients face recurring infections, failing access points, and diminished quality of life.

Our Approach
We provide comprehensive vascular surgery services—from AV fistula creation for dialysis patients to advanced procedures like endovascular aneurysm repair (EVAR)—expanding life-saving care across Honduras.

AV Fistula Creation
Direct surgical connection between artery and vein providing reliable long-term access with lower infection rates.
Tunneled Dialysis Catheters
Safer, more durable alternative to temporary catheters for patients not suitable for fistulas.
Catheter Exchange
Replacing temporary catheters with tunneled versions for improved safety while awaiting fistula maturation.
Growing Impact
From a single surgery in 2024 to a rapidly expanding program across Honduras.

How We Work
Integrated with the local healthcare system for safe, ethical, and sustainable care.
"We work alongside Honduran medical staff—not in place of them. Each mission builds skills that remain in the community."

Building Local Capacity
Lasting change requires partnership, not dependence. Our goal is a future where local teams can independently provide dialysis access care.
Clinical Training
Hands-on ultrasound and surgical technique training
Local Protocols
Fistula-first dialysis access protocols for local adoption
Outcomes Registry
Longitudinal tracking of fistula patency across missions
Partnership Model
Durable relationships with local nephrologists and centers
